On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Atascadero Police Foundation (APF) proudly sponsored and participated in the 11th Annual Lighthouse Fun Run & Family Day in Santa Margarita. This amazing event supports the Lighthouse Atascadero program, which is dedicated to fostering a safe and healthy environment for Atascadero youth, and we couldn’t be more excited to be involved for a second year in a row.
APF Team on the Run
The day kicked off with a scenic 5K trail run through the gently rolling hills and beautiful vineyards of Ancient Peaks, the perfect backdrop for a morning of fitness and fun. Whether you’re a seasoned runner pushing for your best time or a family out for a leisurely stroll, the 5K offered something for everyone. The APF team was thrilled to have seven runners participate in the event, which included 4 APD officers and 3 community volunteers, proudly representing the Foundation while supporting the cause.
While the race was a highlight, the fun didn’t end there! Kids had a chance to join in with a half-mile race, and for the little ones aged six and under, there was a 100-yard dash that brought big smiles and tons of excitement. It was heartwarming to see families of all ages come together to enjoy the day and contribute to such an important cause.
In addition to participating in the race, the Atascadero Police Foundation had a booth where we were able to connect directly with the community. Our booth featured information about the Foundation’s programs, and handed out temporary tattoos (always a crowd favorite!) to kids and families, adding a fun and memorable touch to the day. It was a fantastic opportunity to not only share what we do but also engage with the people we are proud to serve.

The Lighthouse Fun Run is more than just a race—it’s a vital fundraiser for the Lighthouse Atascadero , which focuses on drug prevention programs and supporting local youth. The program plays a critical role in providing education, outreach, and resources that help create a safer, healthier environment for Atascadero’s young people. As a sponsor, the APF is proud to support this mission and help raise the funds needed to make a lasting impact on our community.
