We believe that every child deserves to feel special on their birthday, no matter their circumstances. That’s why we’re thrilled to share the heartwarming story of the APF’s bi-monthly children’s birthday celebrations held at the El Camino Homeless Organization’s shelter in Atascadero.
A Cheerful Tradition
Every other month, our dedicated team of APF volunteers and public safety personnel gather at the El Camino Homeless Organization to host birthday parties for the children residing there. These celebrations are more than just a party—they’re a chance to bring joy, create lasting memories, and remind these kids that they are valued and loved.
What Makes It Special
The festivities include:
Decorations and Activities: Our team takes over the shelter’s community room or patio into a festive space with colorful decorations and party favors for everyone to enjoy. Whether touring a police car or blowing bubbles with a dispatcher, APD plays a crucial role in bringing enthusiasm and warmth to each event.
Delicious Treats: We are grateful to our partners at Vons- Atascadero, who provide delicious birthday cakes for each celebration. After we sing Happy Birthday, we make sure everyone gets a piece.
Gift Giving: Each birthday child receives a thoughtfully chosen gift that aligns with their interests and age. These gifts are carefully selected to ensure they bring joy and excitement.
The celebrations are more than just fun events—they’re a vital part of our mission to foster a stronger sense of community and support.
