This October, the Atascadero Police Foundation (APF) is proud to continue our participation in the Pink Patch Project, a nationwide initiative that combines community spirit with a powerful purpose: supporting those affected by breast cancer.
Every year, law enforcement agencies across the country design unique pink patches that officers wear to raise awareness. These patches aren’t just symbols, they’re a way for our SLO County community to come together and make a real impact.
What is the Pink Patch Project?

The Pink Patch Project was launched in 2013 to raise awareness about breast cancer and to help fund vital research and support initiatives. Since then, over 900 unique pink patches have been designed and sold by Pink Patch Project partners to benefit breast cancer research. The APF is proud to continue as a Pink Patch partner in 2025 and police officers in Atascadero will have the ability to proudly wear A-town pink patches on their uniforms throughout the month. These eye-catching patches are more than just a fashion statement—they represent hope, solidarity, and our collective commitment to fighting cancer.
Supporting the Hearst Cancer Resource Center
On September 15,2025, Sgt. Chris Hall, Chair of the APF Pink Patch Committee, shared:
“We are excited to announce the selection of Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) as the non-profit cancer support organization for our APF Pink Patch Project fundraising efforts this year. We look forward to working with HCRC and benefitting those affected locally throughout San Luis Obispo County.”
The Hearst Cancer Resource Center at French Hospital provides resources including free mammograms through their Early Breast Cancer Detection Fund, transportation to appointments for cancer patients and over 30 other life-changing services for for cancer patients and their families—whether they’re just starting their journey, in the middle of treatment, recovering, or moving forward after cancer. Since 2008, The HCRC has provided over 160,000 patient and community connections. By getting involved and supporting the APF Pink Project, you’re helping your San Luis Obispo County friends and neighbors, access the care and education they need during difficult times.
